James C. Dickson earned his B.A. in History from the University of Kentucky and earned his Juris Doctor & Diploma in Comparative Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, in May 2025. During law school, James distinguished himself academically, earning recognition as a Dean’s Scholar.

James began his legal career serving as a Judicial Clerk with the 19th Judicial District Court in Baton Rouge from February 2024 to August 2024. He then served as a Law Clerk with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services from January 2025 to August 2025, where he worked on foreclosure and eviction matters. Additionally, in 2025, he gained experience as a Summer Clerk at Belcher, Sykes, Harrington, PLLC, where he assisted with client communication and legal research.

Before entering the legal profession, James was selected as a Corps Member with Teach for America, where he taught 7th Grade Language Arts in underserved communities and developed skills in communication, leadership, and problem-solving—qualities that continue to inform his approach to client representation. 

James’ background—spanning client-facing legal work, judicial experience, and teaching in underserved communities—has equipped him with strong communication skills and a practical, empathetic approach to problem-solving. At Jehl Law Group, James applies these skills to provide thoughtful, client-focused representation, particularly when advocating for families and their vulnerable loved ones during complex and emotionally challenging situations.
